Maxxam International were contracted to deliver full time consultancy services to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay. With staff permanently based in Beijing throughout the 2 1/2 year contract period, the Maxxam team were involved in all facets of planning for the relay, including strategic, project & operational planning.
The team were also involved in the day to day operational delivery of the relay which travelled to 19 countries, Hong Kong, Macau and throughout Mainland China for over 130 days; over 22,000 Torchbearers participated in the relay.
The Beijing 2008 Torch Relay is the longest and most extensive Torch Relay in history, reaching an unprecedented audience around the world and in China. The Torch Relay, among many highlights, visited North and South Korea; every province and autonomous region in China; and scaled to the top of Mt. Everest.
