Billed as the ‘world’s longest and most inclusive relay in history’, the Melbourne 2006 Queen’s Baton Relay visited every member nation of the Commonwealth and included Antarctica in its 1 year and 1 day epic journey.
Maxxam staff, as employees of the organising committee, directed and managed every aspect of the relays planning and operational phases, from concept through to implementation and delivery including producing the Concept of Operations and Media Communications Strategy. Innovation & technology were key conceptual elements in the overall strategic direction of the relay.
Following 316 days overseas, the relay than travelled throughout Australia for 50 days, visiting every State & Territory and involving over 3,500 runners.
